The sad passing of ex M.E.N. apprentice Bill Hargreaves will evoke many memories among his friends and colleagues. An avid cyclist, cricketer and all-round sportsman, Bill thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the team.
From the early hot metal days at Cross Street to the installation of new computer technology, Bill was always interested and keen to be involved, being a totally reliable member of the Guardian and M.E.N. composing room team.
Bill was an excellent teacher and also ran presentations of the Guardian to the public in his spare time.
Sadly, Bill had become ill with Parkinson’s and had been in Care for some time as as his condition progressed. He had deteriorated after having suffered a number of falls and other setbacks until sadly a bout of pneumonia resulted in his end of life care.
